   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Artisan Black. The opening is built around Blood Orange and Tangerine — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Blood Orange/Tangerine impression that dries down smoothly. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   I’ve been wearing Artisan Black on and off for a few weeks now (2010). The opening is built around Blood Orange and Tangerine — bright and immediately recognizable. The base rests on Leather and Vetyver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   John Varvatos knows how to compose, and Artisan Black (2010) is proof. The heart is the best part for me: Ginger and African Orange Flower feel carefully balanced. The very first sniff is crisp Blood Orange with Tangerine peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I have owned Artisan Black for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Right away I get mostly Blood Orange alongside Tangerine, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Blood Orange and Tangerine — bright and immediately recognizable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I keep reaching for Artisan Black more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Blood Orange with Tangerine peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ginger with African Orange Flower, which is where the fragrance really shines. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
