   I picked up Artisan Blu (2016) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Basil, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot with Basil peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Artisan Blu. The opening is built around Bergamot and Basil — bright and immediately recognizable. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Basil — it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A decant of Artisan Blu sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Basil impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Pine plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Basil, fresh and very easy to wear. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
