   I keep reaching for Kate more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Peony and Rose feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Pink Pepper and Orange Blossom — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I picked up Kate (2007) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Peony with Rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Peony and Rose feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A couple of wears in, Kate has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Peony with Rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Musk and Patchouli — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   A friend passed me a decant of Kate (2007) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Give it a little time and Peony with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. That first spray gives a lovely Pink Pepper/Orange Blossom impression that dries down smoothly. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The drydown leans on Musk plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I would happily buy a full bottle.
