   I picked up Midnight Rain (2006) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The opening is built around Guava and Pomegranate — bright and immediately recognizable. Give it a little time and Vanilla Orchid with Plum Blossom comes forward — smooth and well done. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   A couple of wears in, Midnight Rain has really grown on me. That first spray gives a lovely Guava/Pomegranate impression that dries down smoothly. The opening is built around Guava and Pomegranate — bright and immediately recognizable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.

Right away I get mostly Guava alongside Pomegranate, fresh and very easy to wear. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

Give it a little time and Vanilla Orchid with Plum Blossom comes forward — smooth and well done. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   Everyone keeps talking about Midnight Rain, so I finally gave it a proper test. The very first sniff is crisp Guava with Pomegranate peeking through, very much my kind of start. The base rests on Patchouli and Cashmere Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Vanilla Orchid with Plum Blossom, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

Right away I get mostly Guava alongside Pomegranate, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
