   A decant of Vanille Exclusive sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. As it settles, Madagascar Vanilla and White Musk come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus White Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I have owned Vanille Exclusive for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Indian Tuberose with Violet comes forward — smooth and well done. Right away I get mostly Osmanthus alongside White Peach, fresh and very easy to wear. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   Mancera knows how to compose, and Vanille Exclusive (2018) is proof. The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus White Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The base rests on Madagascar Vanilla and White Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A friend passed me a decant of Vanille Exclusive (2018) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Madagascar Vanilla and White Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. That first spray gives a lovely Osmanthus/White Peach impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I keep reaching for Vanille Exclusive more than I expected to. Right away I get mostly Osmanthus alongside White Peach, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Osmanthus with White Peach peeking through, very much my kind of start. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The heart is the best part for me: Indian Tuberose and Violet feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

I wanted to like it more than I did.
