   A friend passed me a decant of Daisy Black Edition (2008) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on White Woods and Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The first minutes are all about Violet Leaf with a hint of Blood Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The opening is built around Violet Leaf and Blood Grapefruit — bright and immediately recognizable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   Marc Jacobs knows how to compose, and Daisy Black Edition (2008) is proof. As it settles, White Woods and Musk come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Gardenia, which is where the fragrance really shines. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   I picked up Daisy Black Edition (2008) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Gardenia, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, White Woods and Musk come through and give it real depth. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   A couple of wears in, Daisy Black Edition has really grown on me. Right away I get mostly Violet Leaf alongside Blood Grapefruit, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Gardenia feel carefully balanced. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Daisy Black Edition. The opening is built around Violet Leaf and Blood Grapefruit — bright and immediately recognizable. The drydown leans on White Woods plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I would happily buy a full bottle.

Give it a little time and Violet with Gardenia comes forward — smooth and well done. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
