   Everyone keeps talking about Belara, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mimosa with Snowdrops, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Mimosa and Snowdrops feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Belara. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mimosa with Snowdrops, which is where the fragrance really shines. The first minutes are all about Lotus with a hint of Fig — it grabs attention without being pushy. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I picked up Belara (2000) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The base rests on Musk and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I have owned Belara for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The drydown leans on Musk plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The heart is the best part for me: Mimosa and Snowdrops feel carefully balanced. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
