   MDCI Parfums knows how to compose, and Peche Cardinal (2008) is proof. The very first sniff is crisp Peach with Coconut peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tuberose with Plum, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A couple of wears in, Peche Cardinal has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tuberose with Plum, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown leans on Musk plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of Peche Cardinal (2008) and I wasn’t prepared for it. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Musk plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   I picked up Peche Cardinal (2008) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Tuberose with Plum comes forward — smooth and well done. The very first sniff is crisp Peach with Coconut peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
