   I’ve been wearing Cuir on and off for a few weeks now (2010). Right away I get mostly Cardamom alongside Anise, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Leather and Juniper feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A decant of Cuir sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Cardamom with Anise peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Cardamom with a hint of Anise — it grabs attention without being pushy. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I have owned Cuir for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The base rests on Castoreum and Opoponax — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Leather with Juniper, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Cuir. The heart is the best part for me: Leather and Juniper feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Cardamom and Anise — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
