   My first Montale experience was this one, Dark Purple (2011). The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. Give it a little time and Rose with Red Berries comes forward — smooth and well done. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A friend passed me a decant of Dark Purple (2011) and I wasn’t prepared for it. As it settles, Musk and Teak Wood come through and give it real depth. The base rests on Musk and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I have owned Dark Purple for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The base rests on Musk and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   For a 2011 release, Dark Purple deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Plum alongside Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Plum with a hint of Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

The base rests on Musk and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   Picked up a sample of Dark Purple after reading the community buzz (2011). That first spray gives a lovely Plum/Orange impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   Everyone keeps talking about Dark Purple, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rose with Red Berries, which is where the fragrance really shines. The first minutes are all about Plum with a hint of Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   Picked up a sample of Dark Purple after reading the community buzz (2011). The drydown leans on Musk plus Teak Wood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. That first spray gives a lovely Plum/Orange impression that dries down smoothly. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
