   I picked up Greyland (2006) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Cedar and Pepper feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Cedar with Pepper comes forward — smooth and well done. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   Montale knows how to compose, and Greyland (2006) is proof. Give it a little time and Cedar with Pepper comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cedar with Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   Everyone keeps talking about Greyland, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cedar with Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Cedar and Pepper feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

I would happily buy a full bottle.
