   I picked up Intense Iris (2017) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Iris with Sandalwood comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Sandalwood, which is where the fragrance really shines. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   Everyone keeps talking about Intense Iris, so I finally gave it a proper test. Give it a little time and Iris with Sandalwood comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Sandalwood, which is where the fragrance really shines. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Sandalwood feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I would happily buy a full bottle.

It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   My first Montale experience was this one, Intense Iris (2017). Give it a little time and Iris with Sandalwood comes forward — smooth and well done. The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Sandalwood feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Sandalwood feel carefully balanced. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
