   Everyone keeps talking about A*Men Pure Malt, so I finally gave it a proper test. Give it a little time and Malt with Whiskey comes forward — smooth and well done. As it settles, Peat and Vanilla come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   For a 2009 release, A*Men Pure Malt deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Malt with Whiskey, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Fruity Notes with Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of A*Men Pure Malt (2009) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Peat and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The drydown leans on Peat plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

Right away I get mostly Fruity Notes alongside Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
