   Picked up a sample of Amber Rouge after reading the community buzz (2021). The drydown leans on Cedar plus Fir Resin and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Right away I get mostly Saffron alongside Jasmine, fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A decant of Amber Rouge sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Saffron/Jasmine impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Amberwood with Ambergris comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   Everyone keeps talking about Amber Rouge, so I finally gave it a proper test. The drydown leans on Cedar plus Fir Resin and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Amberwood with Ambergris comes forward — smooth and well done. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A friend passed me a decant of Amber Rouge (2021) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Saffron alongside Jasmine, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Amberwood and Ambergris feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A couple of wears in, Amber Rouge has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Amberwood with Ambergris, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Saffron with Jasmine peeking through, very much my kind of start. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I have owned Amber Rouge for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Amberwood with Ambergris comes forward — smooth and well done. The first minutes are all about Saffron with a hint of Jasmine — it grabs attention without being pushy. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
