   A friend passed me a decant of Love Potion (2011) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Rum with Ginger peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cacao with Vanille, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. The composition is well made but not for me.

   My first Oriflame experience was this one, Love Potion (2011). As it settles, Chocolate and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Rum alongside Ginger, fresh and very easy to wear. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. The composition is well made but not for me.

As it settles, Chocolate and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I picked up Love Potion (2011) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The very first sniff is crisp Rum with Ginger peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Rum with a hint of Ginger — it grabs attention without being pushy. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

That first spray gives a lovely Rum/Ginger impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

The base rests on Chocolate and Tonka Bean — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The heart is the best part for me: Cacao and Vanille feel carefully balanced. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I would happily buy a full bottle.

    I have owned Love Potion for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. As it settles, Chocolate and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Chocolate plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.
