   Picked up a sample of Tolu after reading the community buzz (2002). The heart is the best part for me: Orchid and Rose feel carefully balanced. Right away I get mostly Orange Blossom alongside Juniper, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   My first Ormonde Jayne experience was this one, Tolu (2002). Give it a little time and Orchid with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. The drydown leans on Tolu Balsam plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   A couple of wears in, Tolu has really grown on me. Give it a little time and Orchid with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Tolu Balsam and Amber — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.

   Ormonde Jayne knows how to compose, and Tolu (2002) is proof. Give it a little time and Orchid with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Orchid with Rose, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   I picked up Tolu (2002) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Orchid and Rose feel carefully balanced. Right away I get mostly Orange Blossom alongside Juniper, fresh and very easy to wear. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

The opening is built around Orange Blossom and Juniper — bright and immediately recognizable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

Give it a little time and Orchid with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
