   Picked up a sample of Ambre Russe after reading the community buzz (2003). That first spray gives a lovely Vodka/Champagne impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Vodka with Champagne peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I’ve been wearing Ambre Russe on and off for a few weeks now (2003). As it settles, Amber and Incense come through and give it real depth. The very first sniff is crisp Vodka with Champagne peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   I keep reaching for Ambre Russe more than I expected to. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cinnamon with Russian Leather, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Cinnamon and Russian Leather feel carefully balanced. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I have owned Ambre Russe for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. That first spray gives a lovely Vodka/Champagne impression that dries down smoothly. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cinnamon with Russian Leather, which is where the fragrance really shines. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
