   I have owned Cuir Ottoman for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The base rests on Incense and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Leather with Tolu Balsam, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I’ve been wearing Cuir Ottoman on and off for a few weeks now (2006). Right away I get mostly Iris alongside Labdanum, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Iris with a hint of Labdanum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Picked up a sample of Cuir Ottoman after reading the community buzz (2006). Right away I get mostly Iris alongside Labdanum, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Iris and Labdanum — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Cuir Ottoman. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Leather with Tolu Balsam, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Iris with Labdanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Leather with Tolu Balsam, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Leather and Tolu Balsam feel carefully balanced. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   For a 2006 release, Cuir Ottoman deserves more attention than it gets. That first spray gives a lovely Iris/Labdanum impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Iris with Labdanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

The drydown leans on Incense plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
