   A friend passed me a decant of Carlisle (2015) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Patchouli and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Give it a little time and Tonka Bean with Rose comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   A friend passed me a decant of Carlisle (2015) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The opening is built around Nutmeg and Green Apple — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Nutmeg/Green Apple impression that dries down smoothly. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The opening is built around Nutmeg and Green Apple — bright and immediately recognizable. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A couple of wears in, Carlisle has really grown on me. Right away I get mostly Nutmeg alongside Green Apple, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Patchouli plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

That first spray gives a lovely Nutmeg/Green Apple impression that dries down smoothly. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

    Everyone keeps talking about Carlisle, so I finally gave it a proper test. The very first sniff is crisp Nutmeg with Green Apple peeking through, very much my kind of start. The heart is the best part for me: Tonka Bean and Rose feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
