A decant of Herod sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Right away I get mostly Cinnamon alongside Pepperwood™, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Tobacco Leaf and Incense feel carefully balanced. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I keep reaching for Herod more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Cinnamon with Pepperwood™ peeking through, very much my kind of start. The base rests on Vanilla and Iso E Super — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

I’ve been wearing Herod on and off for a few weeks now (2012). The very first sniff is crisp Cinnamon with Pepperwood™ peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Vanilla and Iso E Super come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

I picked up Herod (2012) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. As it settles, Vanilla and Iso E Super come through and give it real depth. The very first sniff is crisp Cinnamon with Pepperwood™ peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

Everyone keeps talking about Herod, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tobacco Leaf with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. I’ve been wearing Herod on and off for a few weeks now (2012). The first minutes are all about Cinnamon with a hint of Pepperwood™ — it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Tobacco Leaf with Incense comes forward — smooth and well done. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

A couple of wears in, Herod has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Cinnamon with Pepperwood™ peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Vanilla and Iso E Super come through and give it real depth. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. The composition is well made but not for me.

Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
