   A couple of wears in, Percival has really grown on me. The drydown leans on Ambroxan plus Amberwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Ambroxan and Amberwood come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Percival. The very first sniff is crisp Lavender with Mandarin Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Lavender with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.

Give it a little time and Hedione with Violet comes forward — smooth and well done. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   I have owned Percival for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Hedione and Violet feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Hedione with Violet comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   My first Parfums de Marly experience was this one, Percival (2018). That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Mandarin Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Hedione with Violet, which is where the fragrance really shines. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
