   For a 2009 release, Amaranthine deserves more attention than it gets. Give it a little time and Ylang-Ylang with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. Right away I get mostly Palm Leaf alongside Freesia, fresh and very easy to wear. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I keep reaching for Amaranthine more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Ylang-Ylang and Carnation feel carefully balanced. The base rests on Milk and Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I keep reaching for Amaranthine more than I expected to. That first spray gives a lovely Palm Leaf/Freesia impression that dries down smoothly. As it settles, Milk and Musk come through and give it real depth. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   My first Penhaligon’s experience was this one, Amaranthine (2009). As it settles, Milk and Musk come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ylang-Ylang with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I have owned Amaranthine for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The first minutes are all about Palm Leaf with a hint of Freesia — it grabs attention without being pushy. That first spray gives a lovely Palm Leaf/Freesia impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.
