   A friend passed me a decant of Artemisia (2002) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Musk plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Nectarine and Green Notes — bright and immediately recognizable. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A couple of wears in, Artemisia has really grown on me. Give it a little time and Violet with Vanilla comes forward — smooth and well done. The first minutes are all about Nectarine with a hint of Green Notes — it grabs attention without being pushy. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   My first Penhaligon’s experience was this one, Artemisia (2002). That first spray gives a lovely Nectarine/Green Notes impression that dries down smoothly. The base rests on Musk and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. The composition is well made but not for me.

   I have owned Artemisia for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The opening is built around Nectarine and Green Notes — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Nectarine alongside Green Notes, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

    For a 2002 release, Artemisia deserves more attention than it gets. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Nectarine alongside Green Notes, fresh and very easy to wear. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I wanted to like it more than I did.

    I picked up Artemisia (2002) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The very first sniff is crisp Nectarine with Green Notes peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Musk and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
