   Penhaligon’s knows how to compose, and Elixir (2008) is proof. The opening is built around Eucalyptus and Cardamom — bright and immediately recognizable. Give it a little time and Turkey Red Rose with Mace comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I have owned Elixir for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Give it a little time and Turkey Red Rose with Mace comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Incense and Cedar — warm, grounded and easy to live with. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   A decant of Elixir sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Give it a little time and Turkey Red Rose with Mace comes forward — smooth and well done. The heart is the best part for me: Turkey Red Rose and Mace feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

Right away I get mostly Eucalyptus alongside Cardamom, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   Penhaligon’s knows how to compose, and Elixir (2008) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Eucalyptus/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Turkey Red Rose and Mace feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   I have owned Elixir for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The drydown leans on Incense plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The base rests on Incense and Cedar — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A decant of Elixir sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Eucalyptus with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Incense and Cedar come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
