   I picked up Invictus Aqua (2018) (2018) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Sea Notes and Violet feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Grapefruit and Violet Leaf — bright and immediately recognizable. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A couple of wears in, Invictus Aqua (2018) has really grown on me. Give it a little time and Sea Notes with Violet comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Ambergris and Amberwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   For a 2018 release, Invictus Aqua (2018) deserves more attention than it gets. The first minutes are all about Grapefruit with a hint of Violet Leaf — it grabs attention without being pushy. Right away I get mostly Grapefruit alongside Violet Leaf, fresh and very easy to wear. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A couple of wears in, Invictus Aqua (2018) has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Grapefruit with Violet Leaf peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Grapefruit alongside Violet Leaf, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The drydown leans on Ambergris plus Amberwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

As it settles, Ambergris and Amberwood come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
