   Ralph Lauren knows how to compose, and Lauren (1978) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Green Notes/Clary Sage impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Lilac with Lily-of-the-Valley comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   A friend passed me a decant of Lauren (1978) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Green Notes with a hint of Clary Sage — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Green Notes with Clary Sage peeking through, very much my kind of start. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   For a 1978 release, Lauren deserves more attention than it gets. That first spray gives a lovely Green Notes/Clary Sage impression that dries down smoothly. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lilac with Lily-of-the-Valley, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

Right away I get mostly Green Notes alongside Clary Sage, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
