   My first Ralph Lauren experience was this one, Ralph (2000). The heart is the best part for me: Yellow Freesia and Magnolia feel carefully balanced. The first minutes are all about Apple Leaf with a hint of Italian Mandarin — it grabs attention without being pushy. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   A friend passed me a decant of Ralph (2000) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Musk plus White Iris and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Apple Leaf and Italian Mandarin — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of Ralph (2000) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Apple Leaf alongside Italian Mandarin, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Apple Leaf with Italian Mandarin peeking through, very much my kind of start. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I keep reaching for Ralph more than I expected to. That first spray gives a lovely Apple Leaf/Italian Mandarin impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Apple Leaf with Italian Mandarin peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I would happily buy a full bottle.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Yellow Freesia with Magnolia, which is where the fragrance really shines. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. The composition is well made but not for me.
