   Reminiscence knows how to compose, and Guimauve (2013) is proof. The first minutes are all about Almond with a hint of Lavender — it grabs attention without being pushy. The base rests on Vanilla and Tonka Bean — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Guimauve has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Almond with Lavender peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Neroli with Petitgrain, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I picked up Guimauve (2013) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Neroli with Petitgrain comes forward — smooth and well done. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A decant of Guimauve sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The drydown leans on Vanilla plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Almond and Lavender — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   For a 2013 release, Guimauve deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Almond alongside Lavender, fresh and very easy to wear. The base rests on Vanilla and Tonka Bean — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. The composition is well made but not for me.

Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
