   A decant of Alchimie sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The drydown leans on Caramel plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The heart is the best part for me: Black locust and Wisteria feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   For a 1998 release, Alchimie deserves more attention than it gets. That first spray gives a lovely Peach/Plum impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Peach alongside Plum, fresh and very easy to wear. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Alchimie. Give it a little time and Black locust with Wisteria comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Caramel and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A friend passed me a decant of Alchimie (1998) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The opening is built around Peach and Plum — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Peach/Plum impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I wanted to like it more than I did.

The first minutes are all about Peach with a hint of Plum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well.    I picked up Alchimie (1998) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Right away I get mostly Peach alongside Plum, fresh and very easy to wear. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Black locust with Wisteria, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Black locust with Wisteria, which is where the fragrance really shines. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The drydown leans on Caramel plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
