   A decant of Sisley Eau de 1 sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The first minutes are all about Grapefruit with a hint of Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Grapefruit with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   My first Sisley experience was this one, Sisley Eau de 1 (2009). Right away I get mostly Grapefruit alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Juniper with Tea, which is where the fragrance really shines. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

The opening is built around Grapefruit and Pink Pepper — bright and immediately recognizable. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Sisley Eau de 1. That first spray gives a lovely Grapefruit/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Musk plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   Sisley knows how to compose, and Sisley Eau de 1 (2009) is proof. As it settles, Musk and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Juniper with Tea, which is where the fragrance really shines. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
