   Ted Lapidus knows how to compose, and Creation 1984 (1984) is proof. The very first sniff is crisp Galbanum with Mango peeking through, very much my kind of start. That first spray gives a lovely Galbanum/Mango impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   Picked up a sample of Creation 1984 after reading the community buzz (1984). The base rests on Oakmoss and Vetiver — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Oakmoss and Vetiver come through and give it real depth. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I picked up Creation 1984 (1984) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Galbanum with a hint of Mango — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Galbanum with Mango peeking through, very much my kind of start. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   Everyone keeps talking about Creation 1984, so I finally gave it a proper test. Give it a little time and Narcissus with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. The opening is built around Galbanum and Mango — bright and immediately recognizable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   A friend passed me a decant of Creation 1984 (1984) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Galbanum and Mango — bright and immediately recognizable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

The first minutes are all about Galbanum with a hint of Mango — it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Narcissus and Carnation feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. The composition is well made but not for me.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Creation 1984. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Narcissus with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

The heart is the best part for me: Narcissus and Carnation feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
