   Van Cleef & Arpels knows how to compose, and Bois Doré (2017) is proof. The base rests on Tonka Bean and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Vanilla with Almond, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I’ve been wearing Bois Doré on and off for a few weeks now (2017). The base rests on Tonka Bean and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Give it a little time and Vanilla with Almond comes forward — smooth and well done. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Everyone keeps talking about Bois Doré, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Tonka Bean and Teak Wood come through and give it real depth. That first spray gives a lovely Black Pepper/Mineral notes impression that dries down smoothly. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I have owned Bois Doré for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The base rests on Tonka Bean and Teak Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Black Pepper and Mineral notes — bright and immediately recognizable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   Picked up a sample of Bois Doré after reading the community buzz (2017). Right away I get mostly Black Pepper alongside Mineral notes, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Tonka Bean plus Teak Wood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I picked up Bois Doré (2017) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Vanilla and Almond feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Black Pepper/Mineral notes impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The very first sniff is crisp Black Pepper with Mineral notes peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   A friend passed me a decant of Bois Doré (2017) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Give it a little time and Vanilla with Almond comes forward — smooth and well done. The drydown leans on Tonka Bean plus Teak Wood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. The composition is well made but not for me.
