   I picked up Gardenia Petale (2009) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Gardenia with White Flowers comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Gardenia with White Flowers, which is where the fragrance really shines. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
