   I keep reaching for Moonlight Patchouli more than I expected to. The base rests on Suede and Leather — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The very first sniff is crisp Patchouli Leaf with Cacao peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I picked up Moonlight Patchouli (2016) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Bulgarian Rose with Iris Flower, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Suede and Leather come through and give it real depth. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   Van Cleef & Arpels knows how to compose, and Moonlight Patchouli (2016) is proof. The opening is built around Patchouli Leaf and Cacao — bright and immediately recognizable. Give it a little time and Bulgarian Rose with Iris Flower comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A couple of wears in, Moonlight Patchouli has really grown on me. As it settles, Suede and Leather come through and give it real depth. That first spray gives a lovely Patchouli Leaf/Cacao impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of Moonlight Patchouli (2016) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Patchouli Leaf alongside Cacao, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Patchouli Leaf with a hint of Cacao — it grabs attention without being pushy. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I’ve been wearing Moonlight Patchouli on and off for a few weeks now (2016). The very first sniff is crisp Patchouli Leaf with Cacao peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Suede plus Leather and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The heart is the best part for me: Bulgarian Rose and Iris Flower feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The drydown leans on Suede plus Leather and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

    For a 2016 release, Moonlight Patchouli deserves more attention than it gets. The base rests on Suede and Leather — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The very first sniff is crisp Patchouli Leaf with Cacao peeking through, very much my kind of start. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I would happily buy a full bottle.
