   For a 2009 release, Orchidée Vanille deserves more attention than it gets. Give it a little time and Violet with Bitter Almond comes forward — smooth and well done. The first minutes are all about Mandarin with a hint of Lychee — it grabs attention without being pushy. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Orchidée Vanille has really grown on me. Give it a little time and Violet with Bitter Almond comes forward — smooth and well done. As it settles, Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   For a 2009 release, Orchidée Vanille deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Bitter Almond, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Mandarin with Lychee peeking through, very much my kind of start. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I wanted to like it more than I did.

As it settles, Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I have owned Orchidée Vanille for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The opening is built around Mandarin and Lychee — bright and immediately recognizable. Right away I get mostly Mandarin alongside Lychee, fresh and very easy to wear. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

The base rests on Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Bitter Almond, which is where the fragrance really shines. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
