   A couple of wears in, Blonde has really grown on me. That first spray gives a lovely Gardenia/Violet impression that dries down smoothly. The base rests on Civet and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

The base rests on Civet and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

Right away I get mostly Gardenia alongside Violet, fresh and very easy to wear. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A friend passed me a decant of Blonde (1995) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Gardenia with a hint of Violet — it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Tuberose and Ylang-Ylang feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   My first Versace experience was this one, Blonde (1995). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tuberose with Ylang-Ylang, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Tuberose and Ylang-Ylang feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

The drydown leans on Civet plus Benzoin and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
