   Versace knows how to compose, and Versus (2010) is proof. As it settles, Musk and Ambrette (Musk Mallow) come through and give it real depth. The first minutes are all about Kumquat with a hint of Amalfi Lemon — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I have owned Versus for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. As it settles, Musk and Ambrette (Musk Mallow) come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Kumquat alongside Amalfi Lemon, fresh and very easy to wear. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I wanted to like it more than I did.

   My first Versace experience was this one, Versus (2010). The drydown leans on Musk plus Ambrette (Musk Mallow) and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. That first spray gives a lovely Kumquat/Amalfi Lemon impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
