   Everyone keeps talking about Narcos’is, so I finally gave it a proper test. The base rests on Vetiver and Peach — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Right away I get mostly Rhubarb alongside Cardamom, fresh and very easy to wear. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Narcos’is. The base rests on Vetiver and Peach — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Vetiver and Peach come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   For a 2017 release, Narcos’is deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mango with Ginger, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Mango and Ginger feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I keep reaching for Narcos’is more than I expected to. The very first sniff is crisp Rhubarb with Cardamom peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Rhubarb and Cardamom — bright and immediately recognizable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A couple of wears in, Narcos’is has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mango with Ginger, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Mango and Ginger feel carefully balanced. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   Vertus knows how to compose, and Narcos’is (2017) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Rhubarb/Cardamom impression that dries down smoothly. As it settles, Vetiver and Peach come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. The composition is well made but not for me.

The first minutes are all about Rhubarb with a hint of Cardamom — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
