   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Kobe. The opening is built around Orange and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. The heart is the best part for me: Neroli and Petitgrain feel carefully balanced. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   For a 2009 release, Kobe deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. The base rests on Brazilian Rosewood and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   A couple of wears in, Kobe has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Neroli with Petitgrain, which is where the fragrance really shines. Give it a little time and Neroli with Petitgrain comes forward — smooth and well done. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
