   I keep reaching for Magnolia more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Lily and Gardenia feel carefully balanced. As it settles, Oakmoss and Cedar come through and give it real depth. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I picked up Magnolia (1983) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lily with Gardenia, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   Yves Rocher knows how to compose, and Magnolia (1983) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Magnolia/Apple impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

As it settles, Oakmoss and Cedar come through and give it real depth. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

    I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Magnolia. Give it a little time and Lily with Gardenia comes forward — smooth and well done. The first minutes are all about Magnolia with a hint of Apple — it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I would happily buy a full bottle.

    A friend passed me a decant of Magnolia (1983) and I wasn’t prepared for it. That first spray gives a lovely Magnolia/Apple impression that dries down smoothly. As it settles, Oakmoss and Cedar come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. The composition is well made but not for me.
