   A decant of Silver Iris sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Black Currant with Tangerine peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Musk and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I keep reaching for Silver Iris more than I expected to. The opening is built around Black Currant and Tangerine — bright and immediately recognizable. The heart is the best part for me: Iris and Violet Leaf feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   A friend passed me a decant of Silver Iris (2013) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Musk plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Musk and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I picked up Silver Iris (2013) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The base rests on Musk and Patchouli — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Give it a little time and Iris with Violet Leaf comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Iris with Violet Leaf, which is where the fragrance really shines. Right away I get mostly Black Currant alongside Tangerine, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
