   My first bdk Parfums experience was this one, Rouge Smoking (2018). Right away I get mostly Cherry alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. The very first sniff is crisp Cherry with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   My first bdk Parfums experience was this one, Rouge Smoking (2018). As it settles, Tonka Bean and Cashmere Wood come through and give it real depth. The very first sniff is crisp Cherry with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   A friend passed me a decant of Rouge Smoking (2018) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The heart is the best part for me: Black Vanilla Husk and Heliotrope feel carefully balanced. The very first sniff is crisp Cherry with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A decant of Rouge Smoking sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Right away I get mostly Cherry alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. That first spray gives a lovely Cherry/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

That first spray gives a lovely Cherry/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A couple of wears in, Rouge Smoking has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Black Vanilla Husk with Heliotrope, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Black Vanilla Husk and Heliotrope feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
