   A friend passed me a decant of Delices (2006) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Cherry alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Freesia feel carefully balanced. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A friend passed me a decant of Delices (2006) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Freesia feel carefully balanced. The very first sniff is crisp Cherry with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   Cartier knows how to compose, and Delices (2006) is proof. As it settles, Tonka Bean and Vanilla come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Freesia, which is where the fragrance really shines. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The base rests on Tonka Bean and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

I wanted to like it more than I did.
