   For a 2010 release, Heat deserves more attention than it gets. The base rests on Amber and Tonka Bean — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The opening is built around Peach and Orchid — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   Everyone keeps talking about Heat, so I finally gave it a proper test. That first spray gives a lovely Peach/Orchid impression that dries down smoothly. The very first sniff is crisp Peach with Orchid peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   A friend passed me a decant of Heat (2010) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Peach alongside Orchid, fresh and very easy to wear. That first spray gives a lovely Peach/Orchid impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Heat. The drydown leans on Amber plus Tonka Bean and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Peach and Orchid — bright and immediately recognizable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   Beyoncé knows how to compose, and Heat (2010) is proof. As it settles, Amber and Tonka Bean come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Almond with Macarons, which is where the fragrance really shines. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

The first minutes are all about Peach with a hint of Orchid — it grabs attention without being pushy. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.
