   I picked up Goldea (2015) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Ylang-Ylang with Musk comes forward — smooth and well done. That first spray gives a lovely Musk/Raspberry impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

The opening is built around Musk and Raspberry — bright and immediately recognizable. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A friend passed me a decant of Goldea (2015) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Musk alongside Raspberry, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Musk and Raspberry — bright and immediately recognizable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

I wanted to like it more than I did.

   Bvlgari knows how to compose, and Goldea (2015) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ylang-Ylang with Musk, which is where the fragrance really shines. The composition is well made but not for me.
