   A couple of wears in, Man has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Violet Leaf with Mandarin Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Cypress plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I keep reaching for Man more than I expected to. Give it a little time and Bay Leaf with Nutmeg comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Cypress and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   I keep reaching for Man more than I expected to. Give it a little time and Bay Leaf with Nutmeg comes forward — smooth and well done. The heart is the best part for me: Bay Leaf and Nutmeg feel carefully balanced. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   For a 2007 release, Man deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Bay Leaf with Nutmeg, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Cypress and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A friend passed me a decant of Man (2007) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Violet Leaf with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. The opening is built around Violet Leaf and Mandarin Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
