I keep reaching for Malbec more than I expected to. The opening is built around Virginia Cedar and Incense — bright and immediately recognizable. The first minutes are all about Virginia Cedar with a hint of Incense — it grabs attention without being pushy. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

O Boticário knows how to compose, and Malbec (2004) is proof. The first minutes are all about Virginia Cedar with a hint of Incense — it grabs attention without being pushy. That first spray gives a lovely Virginia Cedar/Incense impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Malbec. The very first sniff is crisp Virginia Cedar with Incense peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cedar with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

My first O Boticário experience was this one, Malbec (2004). As it settles, Oakmoss and Amber come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

I’ve been wearing Malbec on and off for a few weeks now (2004). Right away I get mostly Virginia Cedar alongside Incense, fresh and very easy to wear. The heart is the best part for me: Cedar and Patchouli feel carefully balanced. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Malbec. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Cedar with Patchouli comes forward — smooth and well done. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

Picked up a sample of Malbec after reading the community buzz (2004). As it settles, Oakmoss and Amber come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cedar with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

A friend passed me a decant of Malbec (2004) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Give it a little time and Cedar with Patchouli comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Oakmoss and Amber — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

For a 2004 release, Malbec deserves more attention than it gets. Give it a little time and Cedar with Patchouli comes forward — smooth and well done.
