   Everyone keeps talking about Déclaration Parfum, so I finally gave it a proper test. The heart is the best part for me: Spices and Cardamom feel carefully balanced. The drydown leans on Leather plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. The composition is well made but not for me.

   Cartier knows how to compose, and Déclaration Parfum (2018) is proof. The opening is built around Bitter Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. As it settles, Leather and Cedar come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   A couple of wears in, Déclaration Parfum has really grown on me. The drydown leans on Leather plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Spices with Cardamom comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Déclaration Parfum. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Spices with Cardamom, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Leather and Cedar come through and give it real depth. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I picked up Déclaration Parfum (2018) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The opening is built around Bitter Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Bitter Orange impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
