   My first Cartier experience was this one, Eau de Cartier (2001). The first minutes are all about Yuzu with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. Right away I get mostly Yuzu alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A couple of wears in, Eau de Cartier has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Yuzu with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet Leaf with Violet, which is where the fragrance really shines. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Eau de Cartier. The opening is built around Yuzu and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. As it settles, Cedar and Musk come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. The composition is well made but not for me.

   I picked up Eau de Cartier (2001) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Yuzu with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. The base rests on Cedar and Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A decant of Eau de Cartier sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The drydown leans on Cedar plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Cedar and Musk come through and give it real depth. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet Leaf with Violet, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Violet Leaf and Violet feel carefully balanced. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

That first spray gives a lovely Yuzu/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
