Cartier knows how to compose, and Panthere (1986) is proof. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tuberose with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. Right away I get mostly Orange Blossom alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

A decant of Panthere sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The base rests on Civet and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Civet and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

Everyone keeps talking about Panthere, so I finally gave it a proper test. That first spray gives a lovely Orange Blossom/Mandarin Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Orange Blossom alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

A friend passed me a decant of Panthere (1986) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Orange Blossom with Mandarin Orange peeking through, very much my kind of start. The opening is built around Orange Blossom and Mandarin Orange — bright and immediately recognizable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Panthere. That first spray gives a lovely Orange Blossom/Mandarin Orange impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Tuberose with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

A decant of Panthere sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Right away I get mostly Orange Blossom alongside Mandarin Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Orange Blossom with a hint of Mandarin Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
